Eating Healthy and Light at Mattito’s

When it comes to living healthy the formula is simple: eat well, exercise often, and keep the sweets to a minimum. Sounds easy right? Then why do so many people struggle to do it?

Our guess? Food tastes good. Plain and simple. With an abundance of it, we have to be more mindful than ever about our eating habits if we want to stay healthy. It’s one reason we’re less inclined to diet but pro healthy tex-mex.

Just because you’re trying to lose weight and stay in shape doesn’t mean you can’t eat out. We here at Mattito’s understand how important eating healthy and light is to our guests. We get a swell of pride every time we get to explain to a table all the reasons many of our dishes are, in fact, quite light and healthy to eat. Even some staples that seem to be heavy in calories can actually be made healthy by a few simple modifications.

For example, our delicious fajitas are well known for featuring tender beef and chicken. Our rice, beans and guacamole are also second to none. However, if you’re trying to eat light, we give guests the option to cut out the meat and substitute mixed vegetables instead. You can even make that fajita without sour cream or cheese to help cut out even more calories. (Don’t worry, you can go hog wild on the salsa and guac to make up for it!)

Of course, health-conscious restaurant goers are usually quick to ask about Mattito’s salad options. We always start by telling about our most popular, well-known plate: our out of this world taco salad. It features tender, seasoned beef or chicken in a taco shell with lettuce, guacamole, cheese, refried beans, sour cream and fresh tomatoes. If you’re looking to pack on the protein you can always ask for double meat. If you want your salad to come to the table with as few calories as possible, simply ask for it to be made without the meat, cheese, or sour cream. We’re happy to throw on a few grilled veggies as a substitute so you can leave feeling satiated without worry about being too stuffed.

Basically, if you’re in the mood for tex-mex food that’s healthier than your average enchilada, look no further. Our menu items can be altered any way you like, giving you the opportunity to cut out the unhealthy items and to eat healthier and lighter – whatever that means to you! However, many of our signature elements, such as our refried beans and rice remain in the dishes, keeping them tasty and healthy. Wash it down with a glass of complimentary water instead of soda to cut out some serious sugar. If you’re really in the mood for a drink with your meal, a tequila and soda water with lime will help you cut the calories and ensures your meal remains even lighter and healthier.

Remember that Mattito’s also offers a party service for banquets designed to accommodate a wide range of diets and people – including the calorie conscious. Any type of party is perfect for our banquets , as it can sit up to 200 people. Keep your party guests healthy and happy with our lean and healthy dishes.
